Hershey's Mill Estates CalendarWednesday, October 09, 2024 Yard Waste Pick Up In 2024, yard waste will be collected every Wednesday except for January 3, May 29, September 4, November 27, & December 25. Only paper bags will be collected; no plastic bags will be taken. You may also use a trash can; however, it cannot weigh more than 50 lbs. There is no limit on the number of bags and/or trash cans. Accepted: Leaves, brush, grass clippings, plants, small branches. All branches must be bundled and tied and branches cannot exceed 3 feet. Christmas Trees: All Christmas trees are considered yard waste and will be collected on scheduled yard waste days. Trees that exceed 8 ft. must be cut into two pieces as they will not fit into the trucks. Not Accepted: Dirt, rocks, logs, pumpkins The Lanchester Landfill will accept wood and vegetative waste for a fee. Click here for the fee schedule. Click here for hours. Approved Appliances with FREON REMOVED In order for these items to be accepted, the Freon must be removed by a certified technician. The technician will have to put an approval sticker on the item. * FREON RECOVERY INFORMATION * The Clean Air Act of 1990 requires recapture, recycling, and safe disposal of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydro chlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) used in air conditioners, refrigerators, and freezers as coolant. Under the Act, no one may accept an item containing CFCs and HCFCs for recycling or disposal unless the Freon contained within it is properly removed and the owner/hauler/appliance company can show proof of proper removal. It is also unlawful for any person to knowingly release or vent CFCs or HCFCs into the air. The EPA requires certification for all technicians removing Freon as of 11/14/94.
